The “King of Pop”, Michael Joseph Jackson, MJ was an American singer, songwriter, and dancer. He was the most significant cultural figure and one of the greatest entertainers around the globe in the 1980s. He was also famous for his moonwalks.

He was born on August 29, 1958, in Gary, Indiana, near Chicago. He was the eighth of ten children in the Jackson Family, a working-class African- American family living on Jackson Street. His father, Joseph Walter “Joe” Jackson, was a former boxer, a crane operator at U.S. Steel, and even played the guitar with a local rhythm and blues band, the Falcons, to earn more for family.
